About Us
National Biopharma Mission is an Academia-Industry Collaborative Mission for Accelerating Discovery Research to Early Development for Biopharmaceuticals. The objective is to “Innovate in India Empowering biotech entrepreneurs & accelerating inclusive innovation”.
Towards strengthening the emerging biotechnology enterprise in India, Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Ministry of Science & Technology, has initiated the National Mission Program entitled - An Industry-Academia Collaborative Mission for Accelerating Discovery Research to Early Development for Biopharmaceuticals – “Innovate in India Empowering biotech entrepreneurs & accelerating inclusive innovation”. Through a dedicated Program Management Unit (PMU), Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council (BIRAC) the Public Sector Undertaking (PSU) of DBT is the Implementing Agency of the Program (Program co-funded by World Bank loan) The vision of the Program is to enable and nurture an ecosystem for preparing India’s technological and product development capabilities in biopharmaceuticals including vaccines, biologics, medical devices and diagnostics to a level that will be globally competitive over the next decade.
Presently, the Indian Biotech companies are facing numerous challenges in identifying adequate number of clinical trial sites which have the required infrastructure, capacity, trained manpower, harmonized processes and background data on disease incidence at their respective sites and access to disease registries, at institutional, local, regional/state, and national levels.
A patient registry is defined as “an organized system that uses observational study methods to collect uniform data (clinical and other) to evaluate specified outcomes for a population defined by a particular disease, condition or exposure, and that serves one or more predetermined scientific, clinical, or policy purposes.

Medanta Institute Of Education and Research, Gurugram (MIER)
The Medanta Institute of Education and Research (MIER) was formalized on April 29, 2011, with the vision of promoting research processes in modern, traditional and integrative medicine for the benefit of humanity. Medanta Institute of Education & Research is an autonomous organization recognized by the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR) as a "Scientific and Industrial Research Organization (SIRO)", to carry out research, educational and training programs in the quest of quality health care. MIER undertakes and promotes scientific and medical research programs that have a bearing on the health, social, economic and industrial needs of India.
Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education & Research, Chandigarh (PGIMER)
Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) is a public medical university in Chandigarh, India. It is an 'Institute of National Importance' (INI). It has educational, medical research, and training facilities for its students including all specialties, super specialties and sub specialties. It is the leading tertiary care hospital of the region and caters to patients from all over Punjab, J&K, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand , Haryana , Bihar and Uttar Pradesh. Apart from the clinical services, PGI also provides training in almost all disciplines of Medicine including post graduate and post doctoral degrees, diploma and fellowships. There are more than 50 such training courses in the institute. Since it is a post graduate institute, it does not have facilities for undergraduate MBBS courses.
The Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (MGIMS) is India’s first rural medical college, nestled in the karmabhoomi of Mahatma Gandhi, in Sevagram. It is managed by the Kasturba Health Society. The college was earlier affiliated to the Nagpur University (1969–1997) and from year 1998 it is now affiliated to the Maharashtra University of Health Sciences (MUHS), Nashik.
The MGIMS was begun in 1969, the Gandhi centenary year. It is the first rural medical college in India. It was started by Dr Sushila Nayyar. The Kasturba Hospital, started in 1944, is the only hospital started by the father of the nation himself.
St. John's Medical College & Hospital, Bangalore (SJMCH)
The St. John’s Medical College Hospital was conceived as the cradle of clinical learning for all our graduates and postgraduates affiliated to our institutes across the health fields of medicine, nursing, paraclinical and allied health. This professional education can only occur by providing learning experiences that are academically sound, holistic, comprehensive and professionally delivered by our physicians who are also faculty. The hospital began functioning on the 8th December, 1975, and has steadily grown from a few hundred beds and units to over 40 full-fledged departments providing care and treatment services, both specialty and super specialty. By 2018 we would have added 600 beds to continue to be one of the largest health care facilities under one roof in Bengaluru with 2000 bed strength.
Founded in 2014 , we at CARE make patient "Live pain free". Today it has grown to become the largest standalone Rheumatology Centre in the country.
